2013 America's Best High Schools Wisconsin's Principal of the Year!
Congratulations to Bay Port High School Principal, Mike Frieder, for being selected as the 2013 Wisconsin High School Principal of the Year and Wisconsin's High School MetLife/NASSP Principal of the Year. The Association of Wisconsin School Administrators (AWSA) President, Joseph Moylan, recognized Mike during a surprise reception hosted after school at Bay Port High School on Tuesday, March 12.
Each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the Department of Defense Education Activity select one high school principal to represent their state.
Mike Frieder will represent the state of Wisconsin at the NAESP National Distinguished Principals program this fall in Washington D.C.
2012-2013 Siemens Award for Advanced Placement
Justin Barhite, a senior at Bay Port High School, was one of two students named the Wisconsin state winners of the 2012-2013 Siemens Awards for Advanced Placement, a signature program of the Siemens Foundation administered by the College Board. The award recognizes the nation’s top achievers in Advanced Placement Program courses in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (S.T.E.M.) with a $2,000 college scholarship to one male and one female student in each state. Two national winners are also recognized, each receiving a $5,000 scholarship. This year, 101 high school students in all 50 states-including 93 seniors and 8 juniors were honored. Justin Barhite- Bio: Total AP Courses Taken to Date (all disciplines including STEM): 11 Favorite AP Class: English Literature Advice to other AP students: You get out of an AP course what you put into it. Figure out what you as an individual need to do to succeed, and never be afraid to ask for help.
