Wisconsin's Principal of the Year!

Congratulations to Bay Port High School Principal, Mike Frieder, for being selected as the 2013 Wisconsin High School Principal of the Year and Wisconsin's High School MetLife/NASSP Principal of the Year. The Association of Wisconsin School Administrators (AWSA) President, Joseph Moylan, recognized Mike during a surprise reception hosted after school at Bay Port High School on Tuesday, March 12. 

 

Each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the Department of Defense Education Activity select one high school principal to represent their state.

 

Mike Frieder will represent the state of Wisconsin at the NAESP National Distinguished Principals program this fall in Washington D.C. 

 

2012-2013 Siemens Award for Advanced Placement

Justin Barhite, a senior at Bay Port High School, was one of two students named the Wisconsin state winners of the 2012-2013 Siemens Awards for Advanced Placement, a signature program of the Siemens Foundation administered by the College Board.  The award recognizes the nation’s top achievers in Advanced Placement Program courses in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (S.T.E.M.) with a $2,000 college scholarship to one male and one female student in each state.  Two national winners are also recognized, each receiving a $5,000 scholarship.  This year, 101 high school students in all 50 states-including 93 seniors and 8 juniors were honored.

Total AP Courses Taken to Date (all disciplines including STEM): 11

Favorite AP Class: English Literature

Advice to other AP students: You get out of an AP course what you put into it. Figure out what you as an individual need to do to succeed, and never be afraid to ask for help.

Proudest Accomplishments: Earning 5’s on 17 AP exams; successfully completing three courses at St. Norbert College

Plans for College Study: Physics and Mathematics

Anticipated Career: Physics

Favorite nonacademic pursuits: Playing Chess at the Bay Port Chess Club, playing the piano

Host Families Needed for Exchange Students

 

STS Foundation, Student Exchange is seeking host families who would like to experience a special cultural opportunity for the 2013-2014 school year.  We are looking for great families to host foreign exchange students at Bay Port High School.  Our students are between the ages of 15-18, speak English, have full medical insurance and spending money for their own personal expenses.  All you have to do is provide meals, a loving home and friendship!    STSF is a non-profit, cross cultural corporation designated by the Unites States Department of State Educational and Cultural Affairs Division representing students from over 30 different countries.  The goal is to increase cultural and global awareness in American communities, schools and families by allowing foreign students to interact and become involved in our everyday activities.  For more information about this unique opportunity please contact Jerry Novak 920-360-6380 or jerrynovak246@gmail.com

A Message From Principal, Mike Frieder

Frieder_Mike.JPGBay Port High School opened its doors in the fall of 1963 and had a graduating class of 30 students in 1964.  We have rapidly grown over the years with a graduating class over 400 students in 2011.
